Recently, we had the pleasure of working with Post Meridian Spirits, a RTD (ready-to-drink) craft cocktail company that was looking to capture content for the fall season. Background: Post Meridian Spirits
Post Meridian Spirits is a small-batch distillery based in Atlanta that specializes in creating artisanal ready-to-drink canned cocktails such as Espresso Martinis, Old Fashioned (our two favorites), Cape Codders, Gin Gimlets, and much more. The company was founded by two longtime friends who shared a passion for craft spirits and a desire to create high-quality products that stood out in a crowded market. In order to stand out and make their brand come to life they hired Obey Creative to make their brand feel cozy, warm, and embody the essence of fall.
Establishing Goals
The team at Post Meridiem Spirits emailed us with a list of goals for the photoshoot establishing which products would be the heroes of the shoot and which products would be a secondary focus. We also established that they wanted lifestyle photos outside in nature so as to establish a warm and cozy fall feeling. These didn’t have to be tied to Boston but we wanted to pull off a New England foliage vibe. They also specifically told us that they wanted a model for the shoot. They had a lot of product-heavy content already and wanted to humanize the brand more.
Lastly, we made sure we knew when they needed the finished photos and how many they needed. There was no rush on this shoot so we saved them money and turned it around in 2 weeks instead of our rushed 2-day turnaround service.
Pro Tip: If you have the budget it’s always best to go the extra mile and get a model. People relate to your brand when they see other people enjoying the product and more importantly living the life that they want to be living.
If you have a small budget ask your photography team to at least have a model for hands and body. This will save you some money.
Within 10 Days We Delivered
Because there was no rush on the photo shoot we were able to save them a significant amount of money. 10 days after we established our goals and expectations and received the product we were able to send their team a preliminary round of images for their feedback. We do this with every photoshoot because no matter how clearly you think you’ve established your expectations for the photos to be delivered there are still things that may not be perfectly aligned. After receiving initial feedback we did a second shoot and delivered the finished photos within 4 days. Total turnaround time two weeks from initial inquiry.
